Assiette ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following information when you use Assiette:

• Account information — your email address when you create an account.
• Profile information — nickname, age, height, and gender, which you optionally provide to personalise your nutrition goals.
• Meal photos — photos you take or select from your library when logging a meal. These are sent to our AI analysis service and stored securely in your account.
• Meal data — the food items, portions, and nutrition information identified in your meals.
• Waitlist email — if you sign up on assiette.ai, we store your email address to notify you when the app launches.

2. How we use your information

• To provide and improve the Assiette service.
• To analyse meal photos using AI (Claude by Anthropic) and return nutrition information to you.
• To calculate and display personalised daily nutrition goals.
• To send you a launch notification if you joined the waitlist (no marketing without your consent).

3. AI food analysis

When you photograph a meal, the image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API solely to identify food items and estimate nutrition content. Anthropic's use of data submitted via the API is governed by Anthropic's Privacy Policy. We do not use your meal photos to train AI models.

4. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure (PostgreSQL database and object storage) with encryption at rest and in transit. Access to your data is restricted by row-level security — only your account can read your meals and profile.

5. Data sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers, solely to operate the app:

• Supabase — database and authentication (supabase.com)
• Anthropic — AI food analysis (anthropic.com)

6. Data retention

Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at privacy@assiette.ai.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at privacy@assiette.ai.

8. Children's privacy

Assiette is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
